The app doesnt work

i just installed it, signed in with my gmail account, and it shows my list of contacts, but i cant do anything with it. clicking on them does nothing.

support has been very helpful. i could not get it to work, and they spent 2 days and very responsive about it too. much appreciated. we finally got it to work, it was very simple: click on your avatar in the panel at the left and select “Try New Hangouts"
