Don’t count on it for audio calls
Buyer beware. HangoutPlus does not work out of the box with Google Voice and the developers’ support instructions say to install a plug-in from Google to fix the glitch. But this doesn’t actually enable voice calls—you also need to send the developer your UUID and serial for your machine, and they will then send you a link to download and install a patch that allows access to the plug-in on your specific machine. All this, apparently, because Apple doesn’t allow this level of system access to an app.
Which begs the question… If Apple doesn’t trust the app to have access, should you?
I for one will be requesting a refund instead and, sadly, switching back to using Google Voice in a browser.
