Chatty for Google Hangouts App Reviews

Sent me the latest patch within minutes of receiving my email. Fixed the issue I was having after upgrading to El Capitan.

It worked for a while, now it doesn’t. Before it worked but I could hear both the hangouts sound, and the OS X notificatoin sound. Now it won’t load conversation. I can’t figure out how to contact the developers directly. I would like a fix or a refund.

APP Works great. i received update and now can see conversations as before. All good and works as expected.

The UI is broken in 10.11. Chat windows do not appear when selecting a user. Until the developer updates, avoid the app if you are on 10.11. I just wasted $5.99 on a non-working concept that should be pulled from the app store until it is fixed.

Ok for all those people who say it doesnt have SMS integration. Youre wrong! It does! And it is exactly like WhatsApp! Why do you think it asked for your cell phone number when you first signed in? And sure you need a Google+ account but you can create one in less than a minute! Whats the big deal? You dont even need to have any Google+ friends. The app uses your iPhone contacts list. All those in your iPhone contact list who have gmail or Hangouts or gTalk will show up, and those who are offline will have their pictures greyed out. Great app! Wish more people would figure out how to use it before writing a review.

this is a great app. Im using it while on a business trip overseas. to talk to all my loved ones in the USA without racking up a huge phone bill. It has outstanding picture quality for video chatting. And its very organized which makes it extremely easy to use.

I would very highly recommend this app! its PERFECT. Connecting with people has never been easier! What is great about google is that when you create an email there, you get so many other things beside it that will help you with many things! For example, when you make at gmail, you get the hangout, google earth, google business apps. and MORE!

All good and works as expected.It is making a call is very inconvenient,I highly recommend this app for 5 rate.I like this app

This app is amazing, I can call my mother and father when Im at home and I need something. I can call and text without a problem and I dont even have service on this phone. I have 2 phones and only one has service on it. unfortunately the one with service broke and I had no way of communicating with my parents while they were at work and then I thought about how my little sister would use the laptop to make calls using Google

Edit - 10/19/2015 Well it looks like the problem is that if you have chat turned off in Gmail, then this app doesn’t work. The directions should make that clear. I want Gmail chat turned off, as I want to use a native client. So this is a compromise that works ok, but has pretty terrible directions. Original Review Running El Capitan, nothing works. I don’t see the messages list, there are no conversations for me to choose from, it does not recieve messages, I can’t make it start a conversation. 6 bucks for a ui shell that I could have made myself. F- would not buy again.

It’s good to have a Hangouts app on my desktop since I do all calling and texting using it, but my experience has been luke warm so far. I have to jump into the browser Hangouts to do a certain thing (can’t remember right now) and now it’s not recognizing the Google Voice plugin I just installed which is preventing me from dialing numbers and calling those dialed numbers.

I use Google voice and Hangouts all day long for work, typically through Safari. I saw this app and thought it would be a great standalone app that would free up a tab or enable me to close the browser. Nope! This doesn’t function as it’s marketed, I’ve tried to contact customer support three times without a single response. Bottom line— Don’t waste your money.

Hangouts Plus is very simple to use and even so that I can video chat with my five years old daughter who Im not able to see often.Im very thankful for it because it also save all your cell phones Google numbers and convergest it with hangouts so numbers I dont even know I already had were conveniently there.

i just installed it, signed in with my gmail account, and it shows my list of contacts, but i cant do anything with it. clicking on them does nothing. UPDATE: support has been very helpful. i could not get it to work, and they spent 2 days and very responsive about it too. much appreciated. we finally got it to work, it was very simple: click on your avatar in the panel at the left and select “Try New Hangouts"

I had to visit their support site to get it working. Chat has to be enabled in gmail for it to show up. I have been using chat straight through hangouts and none of my chats showed up initially until I enabled chat through gmail. Wish the interface looked better and felt more modern. Also wish the columns in the app could be resized and the chat people column and start a video hangout column could be minimized or hidden.

Can only use one gmail account and the interface is very ugly/primitive. bummed I spent money on this.

You simply cannot make a voice call to a phone from the app. At all. This is possible with all other Google Hangouts / Voice / GrandCentral apps since the beginning. There are no settings/options at all for this app. Clicking on popup message notifications creates duplicate threads/tabs. Silliness. Otherwise, it seems stable.
