Chatty for Google Hangouts App Reviews

I use hangouts plus primarily for text-based messages with my friends and family.It can be used by my daughter on wifi only tables.I also like that you can see whether the recipient has views or video chats,but not enough to be able to review it.

I have been extremely pleased with Hangouts Plus.Almost all of my friends have a Google account,so Hangouts Plus makes it convenient to keep in touch with people instantly.And i really like that I can make calls via Hangouts.Its works great for me.

Works perfectly and very fast!I like this very much!

Its really great way to keep up with groups when communicating.Its easy t use and you can even mute hangouts if youre at work(and tried of notifications).It does a good job.

Hangouts Plus is my favorite app for a couple of reason.All you need is an internet connection and email and your in.Anyone with the app can text you.The ability to make video calls is also amazing.I would highly recommend it to anyone that wants to easily text people without having to have a phone number.

Some aspects of this app work well, others, not so much. For instance, they allow you to denote specific options for notifications to be turned on or off or changed, but not all of these work. For example, I hate badges. I turned them off. I get no notification banners, even though it is set to on. Also, I typically only get notified for one message at one time, not matter how many messages from different people I could have gotten. Don’t understand that. The main reason I use this is because I can get my SMS from Google Voice within this app, as well as the fact that I don’t have to run Chrome, which is not my preferred browser, just to get Hangouts. But the lack of notifications can get somewhat annoying. The other thing that annoys me about this app is that it doesn’t support calling, or multiple accounts. Another annoyance is that the app claims it has the Apple ecosystem UI, but it doesn’t. It’s sorta hangouts, I mean, this app is a web frame at the end of the day, and I wish it would look more like Hangouts mobile app for iOS instead of whatever it is trying to do.

If you can tap into Google Voice like the poorly made Google Hangouts App does so we can SMS voice contacts through Hangouts Plus that would be MUCH appreciated. The Chrome App and Ext. are, well… its sad to say, but they are horrible. What makes it worse is Hangouts is an essential part of my communication system since I use Google Voice and all my voice mails end up in Hangouts. Hangouts Plus looks to want to be the equivalent to Kiwi or MailPlane for Gmail. It is a great concept and needs work though. I’m supporting the developer in hopes of future development.

I have always hated the hangouts app. Chrome extensions like that don’t play well with my mac and I have been wishing for a long time that there was a real native app for hangouts. This app is it. It works natively and behaves itself. No dependence on running Chrome (I prefer Safari for browsing). Problem solved! Yay!

Finally there is an app that support google hangouts. The chrome extension is terrible. This has the same basic look and feel - it seems like a port or a frame for the google hangout app, but that is fine - as long as I don’t have to have Chrome open and can manage notifications (which I am not sure I can just yet). The only thing I don’t see is support for mulitple accounts...

If you rely on Hangouts in a work environment, this is a fantastic app. It adds very little functionality over Google’s “native” app that runs through chrome, but it integrates much better with a mac setup. It’s more stable and doesn’t randomly quit like the google app, and you don’t need to have chrome running at the same time. More importantly, it integrates with notification center and has a proper dock icon badge, so there’s less chance of missing messages. Only four stars because $10 is a lot to pay for what’s essentially a reskinned web interface. Still, it works very well, so if you need Hangouts for work, it’s a good deal even at $10.

Unlike the Chrome applet where you can make phone calls… this App DOES NOT ALLOW the user to make PHONE CALLS through Hangouts. Buyer beware if you use this feature.

The app is good but it’s not THAT revolutionary by any means (many others have said the same thing). It does what I need it to, which is to not be an extension of Chrome or have multiple windows open, taking up real estate on my screen. What’s missing? - key iOS notification features like being able to reply from the notification - any keybaord shortcuts (I haven’t figured out any of them) - along with shortcuts, easy navigation between open tabs - the only benefit I see of having the open tabs is so conversations you have on a regular basis don’t get buried, but please make it easier to navigate between them. Oh, and lower the price. The only reason you can get away with charging that much is because no one else has an app for Mac yet like this one.

I absolutely hate all the hangouts apps/extenstions/whatevers from Google. I’m from that mindset that I should have a beautiful chat interface on my mac that does not require Chrome to be running in the background. Hangouts Plus does that, but there are many things that incredibly bother me at the moment. (1) You can’t adjust text size (2) Pinning contacts to the top on the people tab doesn’t work if you have to scroll down (3) What is that garrish green bar above the type window? (4) Often times the name of the contact in a tab is incorrect, making the tabular navigation completely useless. — Other than that, this is a solid app. I certainly hope future versions can address this as this is so close to being a 5/5.

Extremely useful app.The ability to send and receive pictures is excellent.I have occasionally had no difficulty picking up a phone call and have never had any difficulty making phone call.I typically only used this app to quietly chat with friends all hours of the day,it saved my life.I could make phone call with this app.its very good for me.You can call your friends anytime!Great app,Me and my friends have loads of fun on it!

I use your app every day and it is so much better than the Chrome webapp and the web based version. Tho, to make it feel more native, could you obey “Command” + “W” shortcut to close down thread like iMessages or Skype, etc? It will be easier when you use multiple apps. I often found myself using “Command” + “W” but found out it’s not reacting. Also, since I have a work and home gmail account, is it possible to default Video call to a specific account? Otherwise, the video links don’t work when someone is trying to call me.

This app is perfect to me,I absolutely love it.Hangouts Plus is a fun tool that is used to communicate with other people.I use it on my Mac and it also can be text to text other user even if they dont have google.Its really great and works wonderfully.Thank you guys for an amazing job and keep up the good work.

This app is awesome, but I really want to be able to see when someone’s typing. Is that a possibility? That’s my only complaint. Otherwise the app is great. It is a tad expensive for what it is, though. I think $5 is a better price and more people would buy it at that price as well.

Recently I found out about this app.I was excited to try it.When I downloaded it,it was so much easier to use with so much more features.I got it on my Mac and it worked really well.Its a great chat and video conference system,I have enjoyed using it very much.I will continue use this amazing app!I recommend it to anyone!
